Both engines are paired with automatic transmission: an 8-speed in the G70 and a 7-speed in the A5. While the difference is modest on paper, the G70's additional gear helps create a wider ratio spread that can contribute to smoother transitions and more relaxed cruising at higher speeds.

Performance Systems at Work

Both sedans offer up to six selectable Intelligent Drive Modes that adjust steering feel, throttle response, transmission mapping, and adaptive suspension settings to suit driving conditions or driver preferences. Each also includes steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, allowing the driver to take direct control of gear selection when desired.

However, only the Genesis G70 offers Rev-Match technology, which helps deliver smoother downshifts and added composure when entering corners. On G70 AWD models, available Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control further sharpens agility by actively distributing torque side to side, helping reduce understeer and enhancing cornering confidence.

Step inside either the Genesis G70 or the Audi A5, and you'll find an upscale cabin designed to make every drive more enjoyable through quality materials, meticulous craftsmanship, and a wealth of comfort-focused amenities.

Among the standard or available features shared by both sedans are:

The Genesis G70 distinguishes itself with a standard 12-way power-adjustable driver's seat and available 16-way power-adjustable front seats with power side bolsters and a cushion extension, providing a more personalized seating position and enhanced long-distance comfort.

Space to Stretch, Room for Expression

Beyond amenities, interior space plays a major role in everyday comfort, especially in a luxury sedan meant to handle both daily commutes and longer road trips. With over an inch more front legroom and nearly two additional inches of rear headroom, the Genesis G70 offers a more accommodating cabin for drivers and passengers of varying heights.

Both models offer traditional interior color options such as black and beige, but the G70 expands personalization with available Fog Gray, Sevilla Red, and Ultramarine Blue, along with two-tone combinations that add more visual character. In contrast, the Audi A5 sticks to a more restrained palette with monotone seating and contrast stitching as its primary accent.

Seamless Digital Connection

The Genesis G70 and the Audi A5 both come well-equipped with standard infotainment features designed to keep drivers informed and connected, including Apple CarPlay®/Android Auto™, Bluetooth® wireless technology, integrated navigation, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio, and voice control.

The Audi combines its instrument cluster and central MMI® display into a single wraparound virtual cockpit with a layered interface, which can introduce added menu depth and require more interaction to access key functions. Meanwhile, the Genesis G70 uses a more driver-focused layout with a separate central touchscreen and digital instrument display. This setup allows core information and controls to remain clearly divided, making key functions easier to access with fewer steps and simplifying operation while driving.

Both models include an integrated HomeLink® transceiver that can be programmed to operate garage doors, gates, home security systems, lighting, and other compatible RF-controlled devices. However, the Genesis G70 also offers available Digital Key 2, allowing compatible smartphones to function as a vehicle key and enabling convenient sharing access, a feature not currently listed for the Audi A5.

Both the Genesis G70 and the Audi A5 offer integrated driver-assistance suites, though the G70 includes additional standard features such as Driver Attention Warning, Safe Exit Warning, and Rear Occupant Alert that are not listed for the A5. While both models feature standard smart cruise control, the Audi system responds to traffic flow, whereas the Genesis G70's Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control – Curve uses map data to anticipate bends and adjust speed proactively.

Unlike traditional luxury car warranty structures, the Genesis G70 includes a dedicated long-term powertrain warranty that covers major components including the engine and transmission. In contrast, the Audi A5 does not offer a separate extended powertrain warranty, with coverage instead included under its New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Both models include complimentary scheduled maintenance for a similar duration, though there is a difference in coverage limits: Audi Signature Care ends at 30,000 miles, while Genesis extends to 36,000 miles.
