Indicators vs Warning Lights

The two types of lights that will appear on your dashboard are indicators and warnings. Indicators are simply letting you know that you’ve activated a system, or a system wasn’t properly shut off. Warnings, on the other hand, are letting you know that there’s a malfunction under the hood that will soon require professional attention.

Now that you know the difference, let’s take a look at what these Genesis G70 dashboard lights mean!

Indicator Lights

• ECO Indicator—This dashboard light, which appears as “ECO” on the dashboard, is letting you know that you’re currently driving at maximum efficiency and eco-friendliness.
• High Beam Indicator—When this light appears, it resembles a sideways showerhead spraying water, but it means that you’ve activated your high beams and it’ll remain on until you deactivate them.
• Cruise Indicator—This light that looks like a steering wheel with the word “CRUISE” on top, is informing you that you’ve activated the cruise control system.

Warning Lights

• Electric Power Steering Warning Lights—This warning light, which appears as a steering wheel with an exclamation point, is letting you know that your power steering is malfunctioning. In this event, you’ll want to pull over to safety and not resume your journey because it could be hazardous.
• Engine Coolant Temperature Warning Light—If this dashboard light appears, it means that your engine is starting to overheat. It looks like a thermometer in wavy water. When this occurs, you’ll want to pull over and turn your vehicle off to give it time to cool the engine.
• Parking Brake & Brake Fluid Warning Light—This light appears as “! P” above the word “BRAKE”. It means that there’s an issue with your braking system, so it’s advised to not resume your journey without fully functioning brakes.
